Developed nation • Kenya can't become a first-world nation without eliminating drought and hunger, says David M. Kigo. “The people need adequate food and pasture for their livestock. This can only happen if we stop relying on rain-fed agriculture and embrace irrigation. Let's harvest flood water and surface run-off. Provide basic things first and first-world status later.” His contact is [email protected].

Corruption • One of the factors that made Singapore a success story was zero tolerance for corruption, says Enrique Fabios. “In fact, corrupt people or those who were found to have become wealthy through theft, treachery, lying to and stealing from the poor, and dishonesty were executed. Are our leaders ready to sacrifice for the country’s long-term sake?” His contact is [email protected].

KAA vacancy • Why hasn’t the MD’s position at the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) been filled for over two years since it fell vacant? asks Henry Kibet. “Don’t we have qualified people, or is this another case of competence sacrificed at the altar of tribal politics? How can we speak of the road to ‘Singapore’ when critical leadership roles are left in limbo for so long?” His contact is [email protected].

No toilets • Laikipia County has paved the roads, fitted guard rails and provided garbage bins in Thomson Falls, but has failed on key aspect in this tourist destination, says John Njuguna. “One may need to answer a call of nature but there are no public toilets. The county should provide these facilities with clean running water as they charge a fee to access the falls.” His contact is [email protected].

Churches • How does the government imagine it can control the churches? Asks James Gakuo, without disclosing what has made him come to the conclusion that something of that sort may be happening. Says he: “This is the worst imaginable thing and it's an Antichrist spirit.” His word of caution: “And if you fight God, disaster strikes.” His email address is [email protected].

Have a Merry Christmas, won’t you!
