TÜV Rheinland gets KEBS nod to serve as a pre-export conformity assessment body
Sponsored by TÜV Rheinland
TÜV Rheinland is now an authorised service provider under Kenya’s Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) programme. This follows its appointment to the role by the Kenyan Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
The collaboration is expected to strengthen verification of goods destined for the Kenyan market to ascertain that they meet the set national standards, before shipment.
Kenya’s PVoC programme serves as a critical quality assurance measure designed to protect consumers from substandard and unsafe products, uphold fair trade, and facilitate efficient customs clearance. By conducting thorough product evaluations, shipment inspections, and laboratory testing prior to export, the programme reduces costly delays at ports of entry and promotes predictable import procedures.
TÜV Rheinland offers comprehensive conformity assessment services, including technical documentation reviews, factory audits, and issuance of Certificates of Conformity (CoC). A CoC acts as an official testament that imported goods have undergone rigorous compliance verification per KEBS regulations, promoting confidence among importers, exporters, and regulators alike.
“Our commitment is to strengthen collaboration with KEBS and advance shared goals of consumer protection and regulatory adherence,” says TÜV Rheinland’s Senior Vice-President of Government Inspections and International Trade, Mr Fares Naouri. “Our extensive global expertise and inspection infrastructure provide exporters with a trusted, efficient pathway to comply with Kenya’s PVoC requirements.”
Kenya’s PVoC scheme covers a wide range of regulated products. Manufacturers and traders are encouraged to engage with TÜV Rheinland early in their export planning to confirm product eligibility and documentation requirements, facilitating seamless market entry.
For exporters and importers seeking conformity certification or detailed guidance on Kenya’s PVoC programme, TÜV Rheinland stands ready as a reliable partner to navigate the complexities of compliance and qualityassurance.
