Butchers in the city have increased beef prices by at least Sh60 a kilogramme over the period, pushing prices above Sh500 in some outlets.

Animal shortage has pushed cattle prices up 53 percent in Kajiado, Isiolo (46 percent), Wajir (45 percent), Tana River 34 percent) and Baringo 20 percent over the past three months, said the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA)—State owned agency.
