Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Chief Executive Officer June Chepkemei has been named one of Africa's 50 most influential CEOs for the year 2025.
The award comes from Africapitol Ventures, which aims to celebrate Africans around the world.
The annual awards recognise high-performing CEOs who are making a difference across the continent.
Winners are judged on their involvement in business, cultural, political and other leadership roles in society.
They are also listed according to their professional achievements, as demonstrated by their contribution to shaping both the regional and industry agendas over the past year.
"It is an honour to be named amongst Africa's most influential CEOs. This acknowledges the tremendous work by our team at KTB to make Kenya a highly preferred destination," Ms Chepkemei said in a statement.
As head of the Kenya Tourism Board, Ms Chepkemei has led strategic initiatives to strengthen Kenya's tourism sector by promoting sustainable practices that diversify the industry.
Under her leadership, KTB has launched innovative marketing campaigns.
She recently led a team of Kenyan tourism stakeholders to the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin, Germany, which is the leading platform for the global travel and tourism industry and played a key role in identifying new markets for the destination.
"As we move forward, I remain committed to working with all stakeholders to further develop Kenya's tourism sector, improve competitiveness and create more opportunities for local communities," she added.
Recent initiatives during her stint at Kenya Tourist Board include the launch of the "Visit East Africa, Feel the Vibe" in Berlin, a programme aimed at promoting the East African Community (EAC) as a tourism destination.
Ms Chepkemei has also pioneered the creation of adventure tourism, supporting the establishment of the Kenya Adventure Tourism Product Club, which works with various stakeholders to explore and sell Kenya to the world.
The 50 Most Influential CEOs recognition adds to her list of accolades including Top 25 Women in Digital, which she bagged in 2021, and Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya in 2023.
