Kachok: Locals lose hope as promise of converting Kisumu dumpsite to garden wastes away
The former Kachok Dumpsite in Kisumu City now an empty piece of land after the dumpsite was relocated to Muhoroni. The county government is yet to rehabilitate the land into a recreational garden despite declaring a Sh130 million budget for the project 10 months ago.

Nearly a year after the successful relocation of Phase Two of the Kachok dumpsite in Kisumu City, the plan to rehabilitate the empty land into a recreational garden remains an empty promise.
The garbage site was moved to the Kasese Waste Management site in Muhoroni sub-county in June last year as the county government promised to kick off plans to rehabilitate the land at a cost of Sh130 million.
