Muheria leads prayers for Mwingi bus tragedy victims

A joint requiem mass has been held for the 32 people who perished in the Enziu River bus tragedy last weekend.
The mass was presided over by Nyeri Catholic Archbishop Anthony Muheria, who is also the overseer of Kitui Catholic Diocese.
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Energy Cabinet secretary Monica Juma were among leaders attending the prayers for the departed souls held at the St Joseph’s Seminary in Mwingi town.
Archbishop Muheria told the bereaved families to take heart and get consolation in the belief that there is life after death.

Needless and incomprehensible
In his sermon, the prelate also condemned the incident, terming it needless and incomprehensible.
He urged Kenyans to pray for those who survived the bus tragedy, and are still hospitalised, to recover quickly.
There was no viewing of bodies as the caskets of the victims were not brought to the venue of the mass, but their portraits were displayed with candles lit beside them.
Other leaders who attended the prayers included Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua and Woman Rep Irene Kasalu and MPs Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central) and Nzengu Malili (Mwingi North) among others.
