GSU officer shoots and kills himself in Kwale

  • The incident happened at around 1.40pm Sunday.

Police in Kwale County are investigating an incident where a General Service Unit (GSU) officer committed suicide in Kinango Sub-County.

Mr Thomas Kibet Chepkwony, 26, attached at Mackinnon GSU camp shot himself in the head using a G3 rifle.

The incident happened at around 1.40pm Sunday.

According to a police report from Taru Police Station where the matter was reported, the officer shot himself from the top of the head and the bullet exited through the chin.

"The scene was visited by police officers from Taru station and officers from DCI," read the police report.

The body was taken to Voi Hospital mortuary.
