Mombasa M-Pesa agent shot and killed in daylight robbery

Police are pursuing two armed men who killed an M-Pesa agent and stole an unknown amount of money in an attack along Moi Avenue in Mombasa.

Police reports say Winnie Kerubo, 25, was shot twice in the chest in the Express area at around 8.30am on Friday.

It was said that Kerubo, who worked at Shash Limited, had been taking the money to a bank when she was attacked.

She succumbed to gunshot wounds while being rushed to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The robbers fled on a motorcycle, a strategy that has been used in similar attacks.

Mombasa DCI boss Anthony Muriithi said they made away with an unknown amount of money.

“We already have some leads. They will soon be brought to book,” Mr Muriithi told the Nation on phone.
