Accident between trailer and 3 matatus kills 7 in Gilgil

Seven people died on Monday afternoon following a road accident involving a truck and three matatus at Diatomite area in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
Eleven others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at St Mary’s Hospital, police said.

Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Wilston Mwakio confirmed the incident and urged motorists to exercise caution while using the busy highway.
“The truck was heading to Nakuru when it was involved in an accident with three matatus heading in the opposite direction. It's suspected that the truck’s brakes failed, leading to the crash,” he said.

Five of the victims died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in hospital.
