After 13 days of hide-and-seek games with the police, wanted Christ Impact Church preacher Peter 'K' was on Sunday cornered and arrested in Nairobi.

The pastor, who leads the Ruiru-based church, has been on the run since March 3, when a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

According to the Nakuru East deputy police commander Sheila Kegode, the suspect was cornered in his hideout in Nairobi before he was ferried to Nakuru City where he allegedly committed the crime in 2022.

"Police have been in hot pursuit of the preacher. He was finally smoked out from his hideout in Nairobi. We brought him to Nakuru for processing before he is arraigned in court on Monday," Ms Kegode told the Nation.

"He was arrested alongside his accomplice and the two will be charged in court on Monday.”

The preacher faces accusations of sodomy, in Nairobi and Nakuru.

Police said he was arrested because of one case that had been reported at the Nakuru Central Police Station in 2022.

'Drugged and assaulted'

Records at the Nakuru Central Police indicated that the complainant, a Tuk tuk driver, reported that he had been sodomised by the preacher in February 2022.

According to the 30-year-old driver, the preacher drugged him before he committed the offence.

"I had known the preacher for some time because he was my client when in Nakuru. I used to ferry him to various drinking joints. On that particular day, he called me and asked me if l had a driving licence. He offered me a job to help him ferry some visitors from White House to Wanyororo area," said the complainant in the police report.

"I prepared and joined him at White House. I didn't know he had other plans in mind.”

The driver revealed that when he met the preacher in White House area, he gave him money and asked him to buy some liquor for the visitors before ferrying them to Wanyororo.

He, however, says the meeting did not play out as planned.

"He told me to board the van. Shortly thereafter, he said we drink a bit before proceeding to Wanyororo," he told police.

“The van did not have back seats, instead, there was a mattress … We drank for a while and I became high. I fell asleep only to be woken up by pain in my private parts. To my shock, he was sodomising me.”

After the incident, he reported the matter at the Nakuru Central Police Station.

A medical examination report from Nakuru Level Five Hospital and seen by the Nation shows that the driver was sexually abused by the preacher.

Two years free

It is not clear why police have never arrested the suspect since 2022 when the offence was first reported.

The lid about his acts was blown on March 1 when members of the public raided his Christ Impact Church in Ruiru demanding justice for the victims.

Angered members of the public destroyed property at the church as they bayed for his blood. Police were forced to use teargas to disperse the crowd.

Police issued an arrest order the following day but the preacher has been on the run, evading police dragnets.
