When she failed to report to her workstation for the morning shift without prior permission, her colleagues were alarmed as it was unusual.
Her supervisors tried to raise her on the phone, but the call did not go through as it was switched off. In desperation, they called her family members who were equally alarmed.
Nakuru North Subcounty police commander Charity Karimi confirmed the incident in an interview on Monday.
Ms Karimi stated that on Sunday, police received a report from the manager of a private security company that one of their employees had not reported to work and that her relatives had confirmed she left home in the morning as usual.
Ms Karimi said the report triggered a search which after several hours led to the discovery of the lifeless body dumped in a quarry.
“The body that was found in the quarry had its head chopped off and missing from the scene. Relatives of the missing woman have confirmed that the body was that of Awuor who was reported to be missing," Ms Karimi said.
The body, according to the police, had the official uniform of the security firm that had employed the missing woman, at the time it was discovered.
Before the body was discovered, the search party stumbled on gloves and earrings dumped a few metres from the scene of the incident.
Ms Karimi confirmed that police had not recovered the missing body part and that a search had been intensified. She appealed to the members of the public who might have information on the incident to volunteer it to the police.
