New revelations show that Edwin Ngetich, the man suspected of abducting and murdering Mombasa-based taxi driver Victoria Mumbua Muloki on September 27, may be linked to other similar heinous acts across the country.

Police investigating say that Ngetich is under investigation for the murders of two other taxi drivers and the abduction of two others.

On Wednesday, Ngetich was charged with the July 29/30 murder of taxi driver George Njuguna, whose body was found dumped in a forest in Soysambu Conservancy in Nakuru County.

Police investigations revealed that Ngetich hired Njuguna's taxi for a trip from Kisii to Nairobi.

Upon reaching Gilgil, Ngetich allegedly murdered Njuguna and disposed of his body in the forest before fleeing with the vehicle. The car was later traced and recovered from a buyer in Nakuru.

Mr Ngetich pleaded not guilty to the murder charges and pleaded for release on favourable bond terms.

The prosecution opposed the bond, saying the suspect is being investigated for similar crimes committed elsewhere across the country.

The prosecution said Ngetich is under investigation for further crimes in Eldoret, Mombasa and Voi, with charges expected to include murder and robbery with violence.

The police also stated that they intended to charge Ngetich with multiple offences in the coming weeks.

“There are other complaints against the accused person, which the police have already investigated and will soon be charging him. The cases are serious as they comprise murder and robbery with violence,” stated the prosecution.

Detectives believe that Ngetich's primary motive was to steal the vehicles.

One of the notable cases includes the abduction and murder of Ms Muloki, a Mombasa-based taxi driver.

Her body was discovered at the Nairobi City Mortuary after a week-long search. Investigations into her disappearance led to the discovery of Ngetich's previous crimes.

The prosecutors further sought to have the suspect detained at Kamiti Maximum Prison, a centrally located place where the investigating officers can easily get him when they need to take him to different places for investigations and charging.

According to the prosecutor, the suspect is expected to be escorted to Mombasa law courts to face a charge of murder against Ms Muloki.

High Court judge Samuel Mohochi in his ruling directed that the suspect be remanded at Kamiti Maximum Prison for the next 14 days as the Probation Department prepares a pre-bail report within 10 days.

The case will be mentioned on November 27 for the bail and bond ruling.
