Maasai Mara University reveals plans for School of Medicine

Maasai Mara University has announced plans to upgrade it's department of health sciences to a full
School of Medicine as it eyes medical research and teaching as a key growth area.
Speaking during the University's 9th graduation, the chairman of the University Council, Dr
Kennedy Olekerei said the university will start making major investments towards that end.
"My council is continuously supporting the University Management Board and the Senate, we have
continued to expand our infrastructure, facilities and human resource capacities and that is what we are
going to do with the introduction of a fully equipped medical school," Dr Olekerei said during the ceremony.
Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai said his Government is willing to donate a parcel of land to the University for the construction of the School of Medicine.
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Kitche Magak said technology-supported learning has emerged as
dependable strategy for the University to mitigate the total disruption of the academic calendar as a result of Covid-19.
"The university has made notable advances in the development and application of e-learning to support
delivery of academic programs," Prof Magak said.
He added that the University is strengthening strategic partnerships to ensure that students have access to opportunities they need to tap into the vast academic resources that online learning offers.
Masai Mara University is accredited by the Commission for University Education of Kenya.
The institution was founded in July 2008 as Narok University College, a constituent college of Moi
University. It was charted in 2013 and renamed Maasai Mara University.
