Riots in Narok over 4,700 acres claimed by Governor Ntutu's brother

Outrage over a recent court ruling in a land dispute between the Narok County Government and a relative of Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has plunged the county into chaos.
The ruling, which went against the Narok County government in a dispute with Livingstone Kunini Ntutu over ownership of 4,720 acres within the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, sparked widespread protests.
Angry demonstrators stormed Olkiombo Camp—the disputed land within the Maasai Mara Game Reserve—denouncing the ruling as fundamentally unfair.
Youthful protesters escalated the situation by setting fire to barricades, looting property and equipment, and torching key administrative structures in the camp, severely disrupting ranger operations.
By the afternoon, the protests had spread to the Sekenani Gate of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, disrupting normal routines and halting movement in and out of the reserve.
Police responded by firing tear gas to disperse the violent demonstrations.
Key community activists have strongly opposed the court ruling, asserting that the land belongs to the community rather than to Mr Kunini.
The situation remains tense as community leaders call for a transparent review of the court's decision.
