Slain policeman buried in Nyahururu

A post-mortem report showed that the traffic officer was poisoned and later strangled to death.

Nyahururu Police Station based officer murdered by unknown killers was Friday morning buried in an emotional burial ceremony at his.

During the burial event of David Murai in Rurii B Village, Nyandarua, speakers urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to conduct a comprehensive investigation and arrest the killers.

A post-mortem report showed that the traffic officer was poisoned and later strangled to death.

The report also indicated that the victim’s killers stepped on his chest several times before he died. Detectives said the officer might have been murdered elsewhere and his bought taken to his house Garden Estate in Nyahururu, where it was discovered.

His workmates led by traffic commander Titus Etiang described the slain officer as a hardworking and committed policeman.

Mr Samuel Murai, a brother of the murdered officer, called for speedy investigation.

“We want justice for our brother. The killers must be brought to book. How are we going to explain his death to his two children? Who will bring them up? He did not deserve to die in such a cruel way,” Mr Murai brother.

Nyahururu Deputy Police Commander Moffat Mong’era said a woman was arrested over the death and is assisting detectives with investigation.

“It is unfortunate to lose such an officer under unclear circumstances. Investigations have been launched to unearth the cause of his death and those behind the killings,” said the police boss.
