Social Health Authority (SHA) chief executive Mercy Mwangangi has gazetted 45 health facilities that are suspended from receiving benefits from the agency over fraud.

With the new list, this brings the total number of facilities suspended this month to 85.

Another 728 non-compliant facilities were closed about 301 downgraded by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

Dr Mwangangi said that the delisted facilities will not be entitled to any benefit from SHA.

The new blackist comes a day after Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale revealed that since the rollout of SHA, rogue hospitals had attempted to steal Sh10.6 billion by filing fraudulent claims.

“Every shilling in the Social Health Insurance Fund must go to genuine, life-saving healthcare,” he said.
