Fesbeth Academy from the Western Region received a standing ovation for their play, Deprivation, which they staged on the third day of the 63rd Kenya National Drama and Film Festival at Melvin Jones, Nakuru County.
The play is about the lengths humans can go in their bid to get elected into leadership positions. The audience was treated to a school leadership campaign where students used all manner of trickery to discredit their opponents.

A student steals money from his parents to bribe the school nurse to change the findings that another student is pregnant. The same boy laces some water with a chemical for the targeted student to vomit and exhibit signs of pregnancy.
The play is written and directed by drama veteran Oliver Minishi. The resolution of the conflict dumbfounded the audience. Both the antagonist and protagonist were siblings, but nobody knew this until the end.

Bishop Mahon Teachers Training College, Lodwar, staged a cultural creative dance on the dangers and benefits of the usage of social media. The dance in the Turkana language and borrowing heavily from the culture took the audience on an emotional journey. It is choreographed by Walter Omukongolo.
Tarang'anya School from Migori County presented a hilarious play, Kifurushi, depicting greed in leadership where a greedy inspector uses the people as his bait to acquire wealth.

Through his connections and power, he unlawfully trades in kidneys extracted from the poor in society. He is caught when plotting to remove a kidney from Atieno, a poor girl.
Atieno had passed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations and was expected to join a national secondary school, but lacked school fees. The inspector hatched a plot to sell Atieno’s kidney. However, vigilance by the villagers saved Atieno, and the Inspector is subjected to citizen's arrest.
Voi Secondary tickled the audience with their stand-up comedy, where the actor compared his former junior school (Matatizo) and his new senior school.

According to his Matatizo School, everything was problematic, from the food they were served to the language their head teacher used against them at assembly.
However, at the new senior school, the principal uses kind language to address them. The performer is shocked that there is a menu for students to choose their preferred meals.

Kitui TTC's creative cultural dance, Mukulu , which revolves around security and the effects of poor farming methods, was well received by the audience at Lions Primary School.
Baringo TTC presented a solo verse, Mkahawa performed by Faith Jeruto. It depicts poor governance in the person of the Chief Chef - Mpishi Mkuu, who runs down his hotel business. Other colleges that performed were Kagumo TTC (cultural dance), Baringo TTC and Lugalugalu TTC.
