Popular Nairobi-based Congolese musician  Lesasa Jocker backed by his group Bilenge Musica International  is due to launch the new “Rhumba Yaba Boss” show  tonight at  the Vibro Lounge near the T- Mall in Nairobi West.

Speaking earlier this week to Saturday Nation, Lesasa was enthusiastic of treating his fans to the best of the new rhumba shows featuring new dancing styles and beats.

‘‘I have been rehearsing lately with my Bilenge Band to give my fans something different in the New Year. The new shows are ideal for rhumba fans of all ages,’’ he said.

Every Thursday and Sunday, he stages the “Rhumba Yaba Boss” shows at the Pitstop Grill and Lounge, Karen on Langata Road also, in Nairobi.

Previously based in Dubai since 1999, Lesasa relocated back to Nairobi at the onset of the Covid -19 pandemic almost two years ago when most entertainment places where closed globally. They only occasionally returned to Kenya during the holy month of Ramadhan when entertainment spots took a break. Notably Liberian President George Weah was a fan of shows by Bilenge Musica while he was still a footballer in the United Arab Emirates back in 2003.

Lesasa made his debut on the Kenya music scene back in 1994 as a singer with veteran Bikassy Bijos’ Orch Saka Saka to later form the original Bilenge Musica at the Legacy Africa, Nairobi in 1995..

Lesasa  is optimistic that he will get to return to his  Dubai base  in future with the gradual reopening of entertainment  spots. He has lately also been working on new releases having two tracks, Milelo and Ramy Gout recently launched on youtube.

“I am looking forward to working on more releases in the near future,’’ he said.

Elsewhere, rhumba songbird Principessa Eve Namulanda and her group Keco International Band perform every Friday and Saturday at the Mutengene Resort near Webuye town in Bungoma County. The group features veteran solo guitarist Jose Beniko and the youthful upcoming drummer Yolas.

Meanwhile popular dancer and singer Kanda King is making an appeal to his fans and well-wishers for medical support for an impending hip joint replacement surgery due later this month. Well-wishers can support him through Paybill no 222111, account Kandaking  or Mpesa 0722791976.
