With the festive season here various artistes have lined up activities as a build-up to the Christmas week. Gospel singer Purity Gitonga is among those out to inspire her fans and others with a special message this festive season.
Speaking to Saturday Nation earlier this week, she encouraged her fans to always remain spiritually strong despite any life challenges.
“I wish my fans and all others God's protection as they travel throughout the festive season, “she said.
In addition, Purity has dedicated her latest song 'Niunjohaga Nanga' ('You anchor me) to her fans this season. ”It's been a blessing to those who have had a chance to listen to it and I encourage more to listen to it online too,’’ she said. A lyrical video of the song is available on YouTube, this is alongside plans to have the full video released and launched next year.
Born Purity Nyatana Kamutu, she attributes her spiritual upbringing to her Christian parents in Gachika village, Kerichu, Nyeri County. This is where she grew up fellowshipping at Full Gospel Churches of Kenya (FGCK), Kerichu. She now fellowships at PCEA Kahawa Sukari on the outskirts of Nairobi. Some of her earlier popular songs include You are the One, Ni Mutugi, Yesu ni Njia, Wastahili Subiri, and Passion ya Wendo. To her credit, she has also performed alongside many other gospel artistes not only in crusades but at church services. On social media, her fans can also interact with her on Facebook through Friends and Fans of Purity Gitonga’s Ministry. Elsewhere the Manyatta Homecoming show will be held today at the Downtown Nanyuki in Nanyuki.
Meanwhile, all is set for the Mzuqa Fest- Dala Edition music extravaganza to be held today at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium at Mambo Leo in Kisumu.
Revellers will be entertained by visiting Congolese maestros Koffi Olomide and veteran Jossart Nyoka Longo band leader of the Zaiko Langa Langa band. There has already been enthusiasm in the town ever since the arrival of the two music stars earlier in the week in Nairobi. It will be the first time for the two leading musicians to jointly perform in Kenya. Both will be backed separately by their own bands.
The show, which has been sponsored by Radio 47 and TV, will also feature local artistes Prince Indah, Madanji Perimeter and Apesi.
Kenyan Ohangla star Prince Indah is expected to be in the frontline with some of his hit songs like Mummy Chulo and Ösiepe. While Madanji has Luo Rhumba ballads like Nyakisumo and Elector Nyakano. The pre-festive season show will be hosted by comedians Dr Ofweneke, Alex Mwakideu and Emmanuel Mwashumbe.
To thrill revellers also will be DJ Crème de La Creme.
