Koffi Olomide set for Nairobi concert
Congolese musician Koffi Olomide.He has been criticised in Zimbabwe for chanting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s name in his latest song.
Popular Congolese musician Koffi Olomide is set for a special concert dubbed The Legend Tour on December 11 at the Waterfront Mall in Karen, Nairobi.
The Jamhuri Day eve show, organised by Aces And Light, is expected to be a welcome back to live shows in Kenya after last year’s planned one had to be called off due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.
In the recent past, the music star has taken to social media to reassure his Kenyan fans of the intended tour to Kenya, promising the best of his music.
It was during the Covid-19 lockdown period that Koffi teamed up with Tanzanian Bongo star Diamond Platnumz to release the immensely popular Waah song.
The controversial incident in July 2016 when his tour was cut short after a run-in with the Kenya government authorities resulting in deportation is something he has now put behind him. This was after an alleged confrontation with one of his dancers on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport.
He later apologised to his fans both in Kenya and elsewhere for the unfortunate incident.
An upbeat Koffi with a string of past hit releases like Papa Mobimba, Papa Ngwasuma, Loi and Andrada is poised to release more new songs.
During his last performance in Kenya at the 2016 Koroga Festival, he was doing well with the Selfie hit song.
Elsewhere, veteran France-based Congolese musician Bopol Mansiamina was buried on Tuesday at a cemetery in Evreux, France. Bopol, who died on November 7, will be remembered for some of his hit songs like Pitie and Manuela.
Among his counterparts at the burial ceremony were Nyboma Mwandido, Syran Mbenza, Cayen Madoka, Diblo Dibala, Loko Massengo, Fede Lawu, Flavian Makabi and Ray Lema.
