A special tribute show in honour of Benga songbird Princess Jully (Lilian Auma Aoko) is set to be held on Sunday at Mamba Hotel in Kisumu.

The show, which has been organised by Benga Queens group, will double up as a fundraiser for Princess Jully’s funeral expenses, with burial set for next Thursday at Got Bondo in Migori County.

Princess Jully, who was famous for the Dunia Mbaya (The world is evil) hit song, succumbed to multiple organs failure at Migori County Referral Hospital on October 12.

Speaking to Saturday Nation early this week, fellow Benga musician Linet Aluoch Pamba said Sunday’s show will feature Emily Nyaimbo, Atis Pesa, Queen Babito among other artistes.

The show will be hosted by MC Natha Japeng and Steve Jasuba.

“This will be a celebration of Princess Jully’s musical journey. Most of her songs will be performed during the show.” Linet Pamba said.

Princess Jully led the Jolly Boys band which is famous for other popular songs such as Oluoch Kanindo, Walter Okumu and Joyce Aoko.

Notably, Princess Jully took charge of the group following the demise of her husband Prince Jully (Julius Okumu) in 1997.

She also did other popular songs such as Tom ja Chebera, Yuko Wapi, and Agwenge Part 1.
