The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Secretariat has denied reports they it is using the provincial administration to assist in the collection of signatures.

Secretariat co-chair Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said they have coordinators across the country for the exercise.

"The provincial administration are only providing security to our team. We have our own team across all the 47 counties, which were unveiled on Wednesday last week at KICC," Mr Junet said.

The Secretariat has said it has so far collected 1.5 million signatures of Kenyans who are supporting constitutional amendments through a referendum, more than requisite one million.

The secretariat, through its co-chairs Mr Junet and former Dagoretti North MP Denis Waweru said they intend to finish the process by Thursday this week.

Addressing the press at the Secretariat headquarters along State House Road, Mr Junet said Kenyans have come out in large numbers across the country to append their signatures on the document.

"We urge those that are yet to sign to come out in large numbers and support this initiative of making our country better," Mr Junet said.
