The Ministry of Health on Monday announced that 69 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The 69 cases are from a sample size of 1,987 and bring to 95,992 the total number of confirmed infections in the country.

From the cases, 53 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners; 40 are male and 29 female.

The youngest is a three-year-old child while the oldest is 86.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to newsrooms, revealed that 98 patients recovered from the disease; 77 from the home-based care programme and 21 from various hospitals.

Total recoveries

This takes the total recoveries in Kenya to 77,521.

Six people, however, succumbed to the virus, raising the cumulative fatalities to 1,664.

According to CS Kagwe, there are 673 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 3,386 are under home-based isolation and care.

Out of this number, 34 patients are in the Intensive Care Units (ICU), 17 of whom are on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen. Three patients are under observation.

Another 31 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 24 are in general wards.

Seven patients are in High Dependency Units (HDU).
