Dr Mutiso murder: Mulwa's daughter also detained, to know fate tomorrow
Rose Mulwa and her two children have been detained in police custody as police investigate the murder of Dr Victoria Mutiso in Upper Hill last week.
Milimani Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsaringo allowed police to keep Mulwa, her son Chris and daughter Angela, a lawyer, behind bars.
"There is compelling evidence to warrant the detention of the suspects in custody, to enable homicide detectives to complete investigations before the DPP files a formal murder charge," the magistrate said.
Mulwa will be held at Kilimani Police Station for 21 days, while Chris will be held in Kileleshwa. Angela, meanwhile, is detained in Mavoko alongside suspected gunman Nelson Makaralu, ahead of a court decision tomorrow on whether to hold them further.
Police are also seeking to detain Angela and Makarau for 21 days, pending investigations into the shooting.
May 'interfere with witnesses'

"I have considered submissions of the DPP and established that there is apprehension that the suspects will interfere with intended witnesses," the magistrate ruled.
The court also noted that the matter has elicited great public interest and caused considerable apprehension.
The magistrate observed that, before the fateful day, Dr Mutiso had reported two instances of threats to her life — on July 7 and July 27, 2026.
The magistrate rejected the defence lawyers' submissions that the suspects should be released on bond pending completion of the investigation, as "they are not a flight risk and cannot interfere with witnesses."
Defence lawyers Katunga Mbuvi, Danston Omari and Shadrack Wambui had urged the court to consider that the suspects had already spent 36 hours in custody, in violation of Article 49(1)(f) of the Constitution.
Dr Mutiso was in a taxi in the Upper Hill area when she was ambushed and shot dead.
The case will be mentioned for further directions on August 25, 2026.
