A lawmaker who was abandoned by her boyfriend on the altar was clearly peeved even though she has tried to pretend, suggesting it was her decision to walk away. After the break up, the lawmaker tried to use the influence of a senior government official demanding the arrest of the boyfriend for allegedly sharing her nude photographs. It turns out the story of the leaks was just hot air, meant to get even with a partner who has called it quits after it emerged the lawmaker had failed the faithfulness test.
Scramble to ‘save’ governor
Just what is the driving factor in helping a governor who is at loggerhead with the Senate? Well, there are three people working round the clock to persuade Senators to save the governor from being kicked out. The leaders include a Cabinet Secretary, senator and an aide of a top politician. The Senator is reported to have pocketed his cut and promised the governor that he will influence the decision on whether the county chief’s fate. The three are all frantically trying to talk to senators who have so far flatly rejected their overtures insisting that they will do their job as required and teach the governor a lesson.
Top boss angry with minister
A Cabinet Secretary whose ministry has been riddled with scandals in the recent past could be on his way out of the powerful seat. The man, according to our bird in the corridors of a powerful office, is said to have been a disappointment to the boss after it was found that he is at the centre of the scandals. Secret reports shared with the boss have revealed that the companies involved in the scandal that have ripped hopeless Kenyans off millions of shillings are owned by the minister. So unwanted is the man that when a Kenya Kwanza team pitched tent in a region where the Cabinet Secretary is expected to help champion various government plans, he was told to keep off.
Noisy in public, silent in private
A governor well known for speaking the loudest in political rallies is a man facing isolation by his colleagues. Our mole at the Council of Governors whispered to Talk of Town that the man rarely speaks when serious ideas are needed during the county chiefs’ meetings. However, immediately the man steps out, he speaks with vigour and has a sharp tongue in disparaging his colleagues and the government. The man has already fallen out with nearly all governors from his region, who he has publicly criticised. Two County bosses, who are victims of his sharp tongue, were overheard over the weekend wondering why he behaves the way he does, yet he’s still relatively inexperienced.
Party leader’s calls unsettle MP
A top party official is said to be a man in touch with ordinary citizens in a Nairobi constituency, which he says he holds dear to his heart. The party boss, according to our little bird, makes at least 20 calls to different people in the constituency, who give him raw information on what is happening in the group. He chooses the people carefully with some said to be cobblers in the area. He asks how the MP is performing. The direct phone calls have, however, unsettled the area MP who was heard complaining in Parliament that he doesn’t understand what the party boss wants.
Board members want golden handshake
Board members of a State agency in one of the critical sectors are a frustrated lot after their plot to loot public resources hit a snag. The frustrated lot have since fired an acting senior official irregularly after he became a stumbling block. The board members had directed the acting official to create some non-existent projects and pay off Sh200 million as their “golden handshake” since their term is coming to an end. After objecting, the board then wrote a letter to “dispatch” the top official to the ministry headquarters before naming a replacement who they believe will meet their demands.
