Four killed, 30 injured in protests against fuel price hikes

The government has confirmed that four people were killed in Monday’s nationwide protests against rising fuel prices.
In a press conference, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said 30 people were injured during the protests, while 348 others were arrested.
The CS announced that an investigation had begun to identify and prosecute those responsible for infiltrating peaceful demonstrations.
Also, the CS revealed that investigations are ongoing, and some of the politicians are being targeted for making remarks that could have led to lawlessness in some of the regions, including former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
The government also revealed that two trucks of the contractor on the Rironi-Mau Summit road project were set on fire, as well as the looting of several supermarkets and vandalism of infrastructure.
