The son of former Westlands MP Fred Gumo, Mr Magero Gumo, has been arrested for jumping bail in a case he is accused of causing death by dangerous driving.

Mr Gumo was arrested on Wednesday at Kibera Law Courts as he sought to have the warrant lifted.

WARRANT

The case is set for mention on September 12.

A magistrate ordered that he be remanded until Thursday when he will be produced in court.

A Kibera court had issued a warrant of arrest after Mr Gumo skipped sessions, including a visit to the scene of the accident on Waiyaki Way.

Last month, he lost a bid to block his arrest.

Justice Luka Kimaru directed him to appear before the magistrate and defend himself.

INJURED

On Wednesday, his lawyers moved the court to seek lifting of the warrant but he was arrested by police officer who were executing the warrant.

During the crash on Waiyaki Way on April 3, 2015, a court prosecutor Victor Kabaka Inyanje lost his life. Several passengers in other vehicles and a matatu  were also injured.

Mr Gumo has denied causing the death of  Mr Inyanje by reckless driving.

He allegedly drove his car dangerously on Waiyaki Way and hit Mr Inyanje's car.

Mr Gumo is also to be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
