Kenya Airways halts New York flights amid massive winter storm

Kenya Airways has cancelled its direct flights between Nairobi and New York due to the severe winter weather and snowstorms currently affecting the United States.
On Saturday, the national carrier confirmed that flight KQ 002 from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), scheduled for January 24, would not depart. Consequently, the return leg, flight KQ 003 from New York to Nairobi on 25 January, has also been grounded.
In a statement, the airline noted that the decision was made in the interest of safety. "The safety of our guests and crew remains our highest priority," the carrier said, adding that teams are monitoring the situation as the storm progresses.
Travel disruption is expected to persist into the start of the week. Kenya Airways warned that Sunday’s flight to New York (January 25) and the subsequent return flight on Monday, January 26, are also likely to face delays or cancellations as the adverse conditions continue to affect operations at JFK.
