KPA boss William Ruto injured, daughter dies in road crash

The Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director, Captain William Ruto, was involved in an accident in Taita-Taveta County on Friday.
The accident claimed the life of his daughter, while he and two other family members sustained injuries and were evacuated to Mombasa Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
KPA Corporate Communication Division, in a statement, confirmed the incident on Saturday morning.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that Capt Ruto was involved in a tragic road accident yesterday evening while travelling with his family.
"Captain Ruto and the rest of his family are currently in stable condition and under close medical supervision. Regrettably, his daughter did not survive the accident. We extend our thoughts and deepest condolences to Capt Ruto and his family during this time of immense grief. We are cooperating with the relevant authorities as they establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. We will continue to provide updates as appropriate and as more information becomes available,” read the statement.
KPA said that after the accident, through the support of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir and his Taita-Taveta counterpart, Governor Andrew Mwadime, Capt Ruto and his family were transferred to Mombasa.
“We thank our staff, partners, stakeholders, and the general public for their continued support, patience, and cooperation,” said KPA.
