Mukhisa Kituyi gets four more years at UNCTAD

Kenya's Mukhisa Kituyi has been confirmed Secretary General of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development for another four-year term.

Dr Kituyi’s second term begins on September 1, to end on August 31, 2021, a statement by the UN spokesperson said on Thursday evening.

He is the seventh UNCTAD secretary general.

“Mr Kituyi has an extensive background as an elected official, an academic, coupled with wide-ranging experience in trade negotiations, and in African and broader international economics and diplomacy,” said the statement.
