Leading the cast is Ronald Ndubi, widely recognised for his role as Victor in the series Maria. His return to television has been highly anticipated, with fans eager to see him take on a new character.

In Noma, Ndubi plays Aiden, a sensitive and intricate character who, according to the actor, presents a softer side while still holding firm to his convictions.

“Aiden is emotional, soft, but he knows what he wants,” Ndubi said when discussing his approach to the role.

He said he prepared for the role by studying similar characters from other shows, which helped him get into Aiden’s mindset.

“I watched a couple of shows that align with Aiden’s character, and that gave me insight into how to portray his soft, sweet nature while also showing his strength,” he explained.

Impressive supporting cast

The series also boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Shiks Kapienga, who plays the role of Debhy, further raising audience expectations.

The blend of veteran actors and rising stars promises to deliver a dynamic and authentic portrayal of life in Nairobi. Shiks expressed her excitement about joining the Noma cast.

“I was really excited to take on this role. It’s different from what I’ve done before, but that’s what makes it exciting,” she said.

When asked how she prepared for the role, she said: “Mentally, I had to go deep into the character’s personality and understand how they would react in certain situations. I also looked at different characters and stories to help bring this one to life.”

“Most shows in Kenya focus on individuals, but Noma is more family-oriented,” Ndubi said, explaining what sets the series apart from other productions that are currently airing.

Set in Nairobi, Noma tackles the universal themes of love, loyalty and the challenges of modern relationships.

Its realistic narrative, combined with high production values, promises to resonate with viewers. The show’s cinematography, direction and soundtrack also aim to elevate Kenyan television to new heights.

Speaking about the filming experience, Ndubi praised the collaborative spirit on set.

“The cast and crew are like family. The director is fantastic, and the shots from the director of photography are extraordinary. It’s been a great experience working on this project,” he said.

Team dynamic

Shiks echoed Ndubi’s sentiments about the team dynamic: “The atmosphere on set is incredible. Everyone’s dedicated to making Noma the best it can be, and it really feels like a family working together.”

Daniel Gathu, NTV’s Brand Manager for Broadcast, spoke about the strategic direction behind Noma.

“At NTV, we have always strived to push boundaries and provide viewers with content that is both thought-provoking and entertaining. With Noma, we wanted to create a show that resonates with our audience on a personal level. We believe this series will do just that,” Gathu said.

“This show is more than just entertainment; it’s a reflection of real-life experiences that many of our viewers will connect with. We are confident that Noma will find a place in the hearts of our viewers, offering them a compelling reason to tune in week after week,” he added.
