An MP on Tuesday asked the government to apologise to four lawmakers who were suspected to be involved in drug trafficking.

Naivasha MP John Mututho said the government should consider publishing a public apology in national newspapers for having given malicious information that implicated MPs John Harun Mwau (Kilome), William Kabogo (Juja), Hassan Joho (Kisauni) and Gidion Mbuvi (Mike Sonko), Makadara in drug trafficking.

Their names were among those in a dossier from the American embassy to the defunct Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission in 2010 and mentioned in Parliament.

Mr Mututho spoke after Internal Security assistant minister Alfred Khang’ati issued a statement on a recent police documentary on the seizure of cocaine worth Sh6.4 billion in 2004.

Mr Mwau said the Kenya Police documentary had cleared all the four MPs, saying, they were wrongly accused.

“Police have now clarified that they were not involved,” he said.
