Rift MPs, elders want DP to reconcile with the President

As political temperatures rise in the country, allies of Deputy President William Ruto, Kalenjin Council of Elders and Agikuyu Embu and Ameru Association (Gema) are pressuring President Uhuru Kenyatta to reconcile with his deputy.
The DP ’s lieutenants have been expressing anger lately following months of an onslaught by President Kenyatta. The Jubilee legislators led by the party’s deputy secretary-general Caleb Kositany said in Eldoret that it is time the leaders move swiftly and solve their differences.
The Soy MP said the problems in Jubilee can only be solved by the two failure to which their supporters will continue to clash.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri and his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi warned ODM leaders to desist from lecturing them on how to respect the Head of State as they did not vote for him.
“We have not said that we don’t respect the President, how can you vote for someone who you don’t love? Some people should stop lecturing us on how to respect our President,” said Mr Ngunjiri.
However, Cherang’any MP Joshua Kutuny, a critic of the DP, said it is hypocritical for allies of Dr Ruto to pile pressure on the Head of State to reconcile with his deputy when they have not interrogated what soared the relationship.
