The Jubilee Party has laid out the conditions it says Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should meet before former President Uhuru Kenyatta gives him the attention he has been repeatedly seeking of late.
The party says it is not enough for Mr Gachagua to seek forgiveness on the streets and through political rallies while continuing to sabotage the party's leadership.
Speaking at the party's headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday, Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni asked the DP to start by respecting the independence of the party and avoid any attempt to sabotage it.
Mr Kioni revealed that they had already received apologies from some members of President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance party but did not give details.
He claimed that some of the leaders, including East African Legislative Assembly (Eala) MP Kanini Kega and nominated MP Sabina Chege, were working closely with the DP to sabotage the party.
"If you really want us to believe that you are apologising, release his (Kenyatta's) Jubilee Party. What are you doing in the party? Those who are in court, including Kanini Kega and Sabina Chege, have been seeking an apology from Uhuru," said Mr Kioni.
Mr Kega and Ms Chege are battling the Kioni-led faction for the leadership of the party that propelled Mr Kenyatta and Dr Ruto to State House in 2013, and handed them their second term in 2017.
Another condition for those seeking an apology from the retired president is to reject the controversial Finance Bill 2024 in its entirety.
Addressing supporters in Limuru recently, Mr Gachagua asked Mr Kenyatta to forgive those who mocked him in 2022, saying they had already realised their mistakes.
At the same time, the party announced that it would be heading to Nakuru to discuss issues affecting citizens, including the Finance Bill and the budget estimates.
"We will go to Nakuru to discuss many of the issues we discussed in Limuru, but also to address the issues of the Finance Bill. From there, we will be in every county."
Mr Kioni said all the party's county chairpersons in the 47 counties have been briefed on the public engagement that will begin soon, where they will mobilise citizens to reject the Finance Bill 2024.
"If they ignore Kenyans and pass the Finance Bill, we will move around the country from Friday."
On the revenue sharing debate, the party has rejected Mr Gachagua's 'one man, one vote, one shilling' proposal and replaced it with 'one Kenya'.
The party has also urged President Ruto to listen to the voice of Kenyans protesting against the Finance Bill that will overburden them with proposed new taxes.
"The proposed amendments to the Finance Bill by the Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group are a bait to deceive Kenyans that their views have been heard. Kenyans have spoken loudly that they have rejected the entire Finance Bill".
