Social Health Authority board sends CEO Elijah Wachira on compulsory leave

The board of the Social Health Authority (SHA) has sent CEO Elijah Wachira on compulsory leave and named Robert Ingasira, who currently serves as Financial Services Director, as acting boss. 

In a memo issued on Tuesday (November 12, 2024) by SHA Board Chairman Abdi Mohamed, Mr Wachira was sent on compulsory leave with immediate effect for a period of 90 days to allow for further investigations into his professional conduct and performance as acting CEO.

“This is to inform you of the resolution of the board to send you on compulsory leave effective immediately for a period of 90 days to allow for further investigations into your professional conduct and performance as Acting Chief Executive Officer of Social Health Authority,”  read the memo.

Mr Mohamed said that while on leave, Mr Wachira will be entitled to all his current remuneration and benefits.
