Support the vulnerable in society, says Kiboro
Nation Media Group board chairman Wilfred Kiboro has asked corporates to step up and support vulnerable Kenyans even as Covid-19 hits business earnings.
“The vulnerable are ours to take care of. Orphans and other children look up to us to feed and clothe them. We must take this responsibility seriously,” Dr Kiboro said yesterday while presenting donations of food and other essentials to Mama Fatuma Goodwill Children’s home in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
Economic hardships
Many Kenyans continue to suffer as a result of the economic hardships precipitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It has been a difficult year and many businesses are suffering. But we cannot abandon the less fortunate amongst us. I appeal to corporate businesses to give to the less fortunate,” the NMG chairman said, noting that giving is not about abundance, but the willingness to help those in need.
For several decades, Mama Fatuma Goodwill Children’s home has cared for, protected and sheltered orphaned, vulnerable and desperate children and families. The centre feeds, accommodates and educates needy children .
“These are our children. Some of them don’t know their family. Our future as a society is pegged on them,” Dr Kiboro said.
He further said donations should not just be made only during the festive season, but throughout the year.
