A Somali national allegedly linked to the gruesome murders of four women in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area has been charged with four counts of murder.

Mr Hashim Dagane, alias Hashim Khalif, was on Tuesday presented to court in a virtual hearing and where he denied the multiple murder charges.

Mr Dagane, who appeared before High Court judge Kanyi Kimondo, denied murdering Ms Dahabo Daud Said, Alias Waris, Ms Amina Dhahir, Ms Musayba Abdi Mohamed and Ms Deka Abdi Noor Gorane.

The charge sheets stated that he committed the gruesome murders between October 21 and October 30, 2024.

The court was informed that Ms Dahabo was murdered on the night of October 21 and 22 October at the Kyumbi area, Machakos County.

The charges further stated that Ms Amina and Ms Abdi were killed on the same night around Parklands area, Nairobi.

The prosecution further alleged that Ms Deka was murdered between October 28 and 30, at Valley Heights Apartments in Lavington, Nairobi County.

Mr Hashim, who is currently being held at Nairobi Area Remand and Allocation Prison, sought to be released on bail.

The prosecution said it will oppose the application and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga will be filing an affidavit detailing their reasons to deny the accused bond.

Justice Kimondo directed the prosecution to file the affidavit within seven days.

The case will be mentioned on February 11, for further directions.

Meanwhile, the judge ordered the accused to continue being detained at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.

The women were brutally murdered and their bodies dumped separately after being reported as missing.

Initial police reports indicated that the killers had demanded ransom and but eliminated the victims after failing to get the money.

Human rights organisations have called upon security agencies to stamp out the vice.
