A politician’s refusal to align with the government has reportedly led to a "powerful call" freezing two accounts holding Sh700 million.
Accounts frozen over political stand?
Just what is the cost of political alignment as the country heads to the 2027 polls? Well, two accounts belonging to a politician have been frozen over what his allies say is the political stand taken recently. The accounts, according to our little bird around a powerful office, cumulatively had Sh700 million. For a long time, powerful forces thought the leader would align with the government in order to retain the money whose source has been questionable. However, the moment the leader took a different path, a powerful call followed immediately that the accounts be frozen until further notice. His allies and lawyers now anticipate more legal challenges.
Broad-based ‘experts’ perform below par
The performance of some Cabinet secretaries who were incorporated into the Executive under the broad-based government has excited one of their colleagues, who has been trumpeting the “underperformers”. The CS, who is among those who have survived the purge since the Kenya Kwanza administration came into power, said he was worried when the “experts” were brought on board. The man confided in his friends during a night out that he feared the “experts” would outshine the “original” Cabinet members, but he was shocked that only one had performed beyond expectations so far. He said the remaining three are struggling in their dockets.

A splinter group in one of the political formations is in panic mode ahead of a major event. The recent political pronouncement by one of the leaders, whom they thought belonged to their camp, has created tension within the outfit on their next step. One of the flamboyant lawmakers in the camp was heard complaining that they have been beaten at their own political game and must now change tack ahead of the event. The lawmaker is, however, blaming the politics of tokenism, which he says will finish their camp if their rivals continue targeting them.

Local community members of a youthful legislator in Nairobi are up in arms after he publicly paid school fees for students they consider “outsiders”, while leaving out those who have been loyal to him. While the gesture was widely praised elsewhere as an act of generosity, locals say it has exposed what they view as misplaced priorities. Community members say the man, who has bigger ambitions in 2027, should first address the needs of families within his constituency before extending the good gesture to other people. During a recent meeting, some youths in his constituency were heard chanting “charity begins at home” and questioning why struggling students from the area do not receive the same attention.
Rainy season giving county chief headache
While the rainy season is a blessing to farmers across the country, for a city county chief, the period presents a headache that gives him sleepless nights. Every time the weatherman gives an update of expected rain, the governor is said to immediately go into panic mode. According to our well-placed mole, the boss has now instructed officers in the environment department to furnish him with weather forecast updates and their preparedness to deal with the aftermath of flooding on a daily basis. The county chief has been complaining that the flood disaster is being used by his political opponents to brand him as incompetent.
