Three arrested over trafficking of 21 Nepalese girls

Three people have been arrested in connection to the illegal trafficking of 21 underage girls from Nepal and who were working in night clubs.

According to a tweet by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the minors were working illegally in the nightclubs and were being exploited by the management of the clubs.

“Detectives from the DCI Anti-Human Trafficking & Child Protection Unit and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit last night raided two clubs in Mogotio Road, Westlands and rescued 21 Nepalese girls who had been trafficked to Kenya for exploitation,” the tweet posted early Friday morning said.

“Three perpetrators were arrested and will be charged for various offences under the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Act (Act No.8 of 2010),” the official DCI Twitter handle said.
