Waiganjo probe recommends sacking of top officers

National Police Service Commission chairman Johnstone Kavuludi (right) displays the report he received on police impostor Joshua Waiganjo from Mary Owuor (left) January 31, 2013 in Nairobi. The report recommends the sacking of Rift Valley police boss John M'Mbijiwe and Anti-Stock Theft Unit's Remi Ngugi. DANIEL IRUNGU.

The team formed to investigate the status of Joshua Waiganjo in the police force has recommended the dismissal of Rift Valley police boss John M'Mbijiwe and Anti-Stock Theft Unit's Remi Ngugi over their role in the saga.

However, former police commissioner Mathew Iteere was cleared of any complicity after the probe team found his evidence to "be credible".

Also cleared was Njoro police boss Peter Nthiga and the team recommended his reinstatement and transfer to another station.
