Frankie Dettori has narrowly missed out on half a million sterling pounds. Don't cry. He still pockets 190,000. We should all become jockeys! It occurred when Frankie came second in the Arab Emirates 1 mile 2-furlong Dubai World Cup on Mixto 33-1.

The feature had a total prize fund of £9.29 million, with £5m of that going to Hit Show (Florent Geroux 80-1).  That was something of a blind-sider for bookies. Hit Show came through from second last on the final bend to overtake Mixto, inches before the line, clocking 2:03:5/10. Forever Young (Ryusei Sakai 4-9), plucked third. He is the Globe's highest-rated thoroughbred.

Romantic Warrior (James McDonald 4-11), was unable to defend himself against Soul Rush (C. Demuro 14-1), in the Dubai Turf, and, Rebel's Romance was only able to pop fourth in the Sheema Classic. Calif (A. de Fries 66-1), reached the post first from Durezza (Christophe Soumillon 22-1), and, Giavellotto (Oisin Murphy 11-2).

Jockey Micheal Nolan has been banned from racing for ten days following his ride on Celebre D'Allen in the Randox Grand National. The gelding was pulled up after the final fence before collapsing on the track, requiring immediate veterinary treatment. Celebre D’Allen had settled towards the front of the field during the early stages of Aintree's steeplechase. But his chances appeared to dwindle The 125/1 shot was then pulled up after jumping the final fence and collapsed, as only 18 of the 34 starters finished the course. Michael Nolan should have had a stiffer punishment, raging punters declared. On-lookers were distraught. Celebre D'Allen was diagnosed as having heat stroke. Surprisingly, none of the Dubai contenders were victims in 39-degree temperatures.

Trainer, Willie Mullins, has seen, and achieved it all, but emotions ran amok by the enormity of the occasion after providing his son Patrick with Randox Grand National's glam reward, on Nick Rockett. Britain and Ireland's champion, is more accustomed than anybody else to being swarmed in the winner's enclosure after breaking one record after another, deflecting praise, a picture of calm amid the chaos.

For once, words failed him as he had to pause to wipe away tears: "Nothing can be better than this. It's huge. Can't quite comprehend it. Massive changes like better prize-money, softer fences, increased class of participants helped horses to be able to travel comfortably within themselves. It still remains a marathon test of stamina and luck!"

Nick Rockett was a relatively unconsidered 33-1 shot before stretching 2.5 lengths clear of stablemate I am Maximus. Grangeclare West, and Meetingofthewaters, bumped third and fifth for the yard, with Iroko, running a fabulous race in fourth. It took 9:03:00 for Nick Rockett to shatter I am Maximus (Paul Townend 6-1). Coco Beach (Jody McGarvey 50-1), started last and then had to be pulled up, with thirteen others.

Such disappointment for Broadway Boy (Tom Bellamy 40-1), who actually set a fantastic pace for seven minutes, then fell unceremoniously, just clipping the 25th fence. Tom Bellamy looked to get catapulted forwards from the horse and smashed into the turf. He was rushed to hospital. It was an awful fall. Hopefully, Broadway Boy will only be bruised.
