Dearest Wanja, I find myself reflecting on the countless memories I shared with you, memories filled with laughter, triumph, and pure joy.
You were more than just a volleyball star; you were the epitome of passion, determination, and kindness.
On the court, you were a volleyball force of nature, an unstoppable presence that inspired all who had the privilege of playing with you.
Your power, precision, and grace were unmatched, and you played not just for victory but for the love of the game and for the teammates who stood by you. Off the court, you were an even greater inspiration.
Your humility, your generosity, and your unwavering support for those around you will never be forgotten.
You had the rare ability to make people believe in themselves, to lift them higher, just as you did on the volleyball court.
Though you’re no longer here with us, your legacy lives on in every set, every spike, and every block.
We will carry the lessons you taught us -- not just in sports, but in life itself. Your strength, resilience, and unwavering belief in the power of teamwork will continue to guide us.
You may have left this world, but the impact you made, the joy you spread, and the fire you ignited within all of us will never fade.
You will always be remembered as a star on the court, a friend in our hearts who will remain an irreplaceable part of our lives.
I knew you for 21 years. The first time we met was in school when I was 14 years, then I met you again at 21 and when I was 35 when we were both grown women, assured in our womanhood and wanted to make an impact in the society through our contribution in this sport. Each in their own special way.
Notice the numbers. I want to keep your number seven forever engraved in me. Like our high school motto, you would want us to be one -- “One Heart, One Mind”.
Rest easy Wanja, You will always have a place in our hearts.
