Wallets required to shop at match venue
The various shops at the match venue, the Gelredome arena, are making a kill whenever the home team is playing. This is because the Dutch love to snack a lot when watching matches. Fries, burgers and beer are some of the fast-moving products. For you to be served, you need to have cards known as wallets. The cards can be loaded through credit cards or by cash on some special ATM-like booths located at the stadium. If loading through cash, you place the note on a slot reserved for them then your card is automatically loaded. The same procedure applies to the credit card, just that you have to choose the amount you want deducted from your account and transferred to the wallets.
A new record was set here at the Gelredome arena on Friday night in the Netherlands v Belgium game. The initial tickets printed for this game were sold out an hour to the game and the host federation, NEVOBO, had to quickly print new tickets with fans still streaming in big numbers. The game registered the biggest attendance so far at slightly over 10,000 fans at the main court but they left a dejected lot after Netherlands lost 3-1 to Belgium in their penultimate Pool A match.
The LGBTQ community is well supported here. Members of this community hang the LGBTQ flags at the balcony of their houses while some hotels even hang the flag at their parking bays perhaps to show support for them. Zebra crossings are also painted in the LGBTQ's rainbow colours in some towns as a way of showing the community embraces their diverse nature.
