Compel FC coach George Mutimba remains optimistic despite only five lower-league teams making it to the round of 16.
“We have to fight and break more records, but I’m optimistic we shall get past the quarter-final stage. It will be a great honor if a division one team like us wins this cup and gets to the continental stage,” said Mutimba.

Defending champions Kenya Police, Gor Mahia, Shabana, Bidco United, Ulinzi Stars, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Murang’a Seal secured their spots on Sunday after overcoming their opponents with ease. They joined Bandari, KCB, Kenya Police, and Kariobangi Sharks, who advanced on Saturday.
