The deadline for applications to become Gor Mahia coach is Thursday, July 10, 2025.
The club is, however, silent on who has so far applied for one of Kenya’s and indeed Africa’s hottest coaching seats but it is expected the applicants will be some of the best available going by the club’s minimum requirements for the position.
Gor Mahia started the process of rebuilding the team in earnest for the 2025/26 season on Friday by announcing vacancies for the posts of the head coach, assistant coach, team manager, goalkeeper trainer and team doctor.
Gor also announced they were filling the position of Chief Executive Officer that has been held by Raymond Oruo since 2021.

The persons interested must have eight years’ experience in managing a national team or club successfully.
Gor indicated that the success will be based on the number of titles won and in which competitions. In fact, Gor have indicated that they will prefer coaches who have worked on the African continent and have won either the CAF Confederation Cup, CAF Champions League and Africa Cup of Nations.
“The new coach should also have adequate understanding of modern football tactics, sports science, tactics and data analysis,” the Executive Committee said.
“We need a qualified coach who will see a good turnaround in the results of the club as we look to bounce back. That is why we will be very keen on getting the best, most qualified candidate. A tactician who is hungry for success” said Gor Chairman Ambrose Rachier.
Many fans have said they prefer a Briton to take over as head coach. Gor’s recent success has been brought about by British coaches.
The club indicated that local coaches who have worked in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League or other top leagues in Africa will have an added advantage.
It will be interesting to see who is picked as some fans have opposed the separate recruitment of the assistant coach, arguing that the head coach should come with his line-up.
“You are running this club like a village team. The new coach is the one who should come back with staff for easy coaching,” said Mike Okoth on Facebook while commenting on the club’s announcement.
Shadrack Deshatta said: “The coach should come with his technical bench to avoid sabotage claims which have been experienced before,”
The previous technical bench of Zedekiah Otieno, Michael Nam and Boniface Oluoch were accused of sabotaging the head coach. First, it was Brazilian Leonardo Neiva then Croatian Sinisa Mihic in quick succession.
Gor finished second in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League behind new champions Kenya Police.
K’Ogalo also lost to Police in the final of Mozzart Bet Cup, ending the season trophyless for the first time since 2016.
