NGAO-K hosts annual Patrons Shoot event

National Guns Owners Association of Kenya (NGAO-K) Patron Ambassador Mwaniki Muchiri has underscored the importance of shooting sports saying it encourages responsible firearm ownership, and use and ensures safety standards are met in all instances. 

Muchiri says the sport, which continues to gain fame in the country, enables licensed gun owners or holders to have discipline and engage in safe and accountable firearm practices.

“Events like the Patrons Shoot are essential for raising awareness about responsible firearm use. At NGAO-K, we emphasize safety, accountability, and training to ensure that firearm ownership is managed with the utmost respect for our communities,” said Muchiri.

He was speaking over the weekend  when NGAO-K hosted its annual Patrons Shoot 2024 at the Kirigiti Range in Kiambu.

The event was graced by licensed firearm holders, corporate leaders, and the media to reaffirm their commitment to responsible firearm ownership, safety, and the advancement of shooting sports in Kenya.

Among the categories where participants competed were Main Shoot, Corporate Shoot, Media Shoot, and the Lioness Trophy, which celebrated the participation of women in shooting sports.

In the media shoot, journalists were guided by experts and had the chance to experience shooting sports firsthand, under the guidance of certified safety experts.

Those who excelled were awarded Kenyan sprinter and African 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala. Others were Silvia Kinya (GSU Recce),  Elizabeth Cherono (National Museums of Kenya),  Wangeci Muchiri (DCI), Silva Kiido ( SPM Buzz)  Cliff Wekesa (Plug TV), Anthony Wahome and  Captain Migwi
