Surely, Kabras Sugar are now knocking on the door of greatness after claiming their fifth Kenya Cup title and fourth in row on Saturday in Kakamega
However, it was a case of so near yet so far for Menengai Oilers who came so close to winning their first Kenyan title in the tight final at Kakamega Showground on Saturday.
Kabras Sugar, displaying their power, experience and guile carried the day 27-26 and remain unbeaten in three consecutive seasons of Kenya Cup.
This was the closest score in Kenya Cup final since Nakuru defeated Strathmore Leos 23-22 to retain the diadem at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in 2014.

Kabras fans were left on the edges of their seats with Oilers fans going wild in the final minutes when Elkeans Musonye landed for the Nakuru-based and the conversion brought the score to 27-26.
Was the upset win coming? Kabras, who were competing in their 10th consecutive Kenya Cup final, held on as they claimed a crucial penalty in their half.

“I am happy that we won but disappointed about how we did it. The gap could have been bigger but the players just decided not to stick to the plan. The ball could have bounced anywhere,” said Kabras head coach Carlos Katywa, who hailed the Oilers for a good display.
“The gap is closing and we should be worried about that,” said Katywa, adding that they must improve if they are to beat the Oilers in the Enterprise Cup final on April 24 in Nairobi.
Menengai Oilers coach Gibson Weru was happy with his boys for putting up a good fight, promising revenge in the Enterprise Cup final scheduled for this coming Saturday.
“Kabras kicking was efficient, and it cost us. We missed a lot of opportunities that could have put Kabras on the cutting edge,” said Weru.
