The 69-year-old mother of murdered athlete Benjamin Kiplagat shed tears at the Eldoret High Court on Tuesday as she implored the judge to hand the two men found guilty a life sentence.

In an emotional testimony, Elizabeth Chemwemo told Justice Reuben Nyakundi of her pain since her son's death.

Justice Nyakundi sentenced the two convicts — Peter Ushuru and David Ekai —  to a jail term of 35 years each.
