Abuse of power • The biggest problem in the country today is “the widespread abuse of power and privileges”, says Joseph Macharia. He cites the MCAs impeaching governors, not because they have done anything wrong, but after failing to get personal favours from the county chiefs. “The impeachment law needs to be restructured to check the MCAs’ excesses.” His contact is [email protected].

No response • While some people have been thrilled by quick responses by officials to their complaints, Sheila Gikuyu, a resident of Gatundu North in Kiambu County, and her neighbours, have not been so lucky. Says she: “I’m following up on my appeal on the poor state of the Kamwangi-Gakoe-Mataara road. I still hope those responsible are listening and will act.” Her contact is [email protected].

Irritating CEOs • There are chief executive officers Charles Omondi describes as “having village accents”, but who insist on featuring in their organisations’ important TV and radio promos. Says Charles: “Can these CEOs, kindly, spare the public the sheer irritation by instead letting the competent staff in their corporate affairs departments handle such matters?” His email address is [email protected].

Bad justice system • Somali national Abdiaziz Farah’s conviction in the US of theft from a programme to feed children has exposed Kenya as a money laundering hub, says Taabu Tele. “This follows massive embezzlement to invest in Kenya. Farah’s sentencing shames our judicial system where fraudsters are instead rewarded with political appointments.” His contact is [email protected].

Alarming deforestation • More than half-way through his first five-year term, Sammy Kinuthia says, President William Ruto should be quite alarmed at the increasing deforestation in many parts of the country. “At this rate of destruction, especially the logging along the roads, there may not be any forests left in the country. Where do these people get the permission from?” His contact is [email protected].

Have a protective day, won’t you!
