Stinking standoff • The Nairobi City County's row with Kenya Power that saw staff of the former dump garbage at the Stima House headquarters of the latter is embarrassing, says Jotham Ndung’u. “I hope the heads of the two institutions will sit down and amicably resolve their differences.” After all, he adds, both operate and serve the people in this same country. Endangered IDs • A potential victim, Jediel Muthuri, is worried that Kenyans whose national identity card numbers have seven digits “are an endangered species as they can't register for phone SIM cards”. Says he: “I was born in 1954, and my ID also has seven digits like those of other 70-year-olds. What percentage of Kenyans are over 70 or don’t we matter anymore?” His contact is jmuthuri@gmail.com.

US power broker •American President Donald Trump has unelected officials such as billionaire Elon Musk implementing his policies and executive orders, notes university don XN Iraki. “That looks very African where lots of unelected power brokers often hold more power than some elected leaders. Has he copied our system as we lifted the US Constitution?” His contact is xniraki@gmail.com.

Leaking post office • A regular user of postal services at Naivasha in Nakuru County, Njuguna Kamau, is appalled at the poor condition of the business block. “I thought leasing part of the building housing the Post Office was meant to improve the facility, which is an eyesore. The leaking roof and the ceiling peeling off are embarrassing. Those concerned should rectify this.” His contact is kajunajj@yahoo.com.

Wasted resources • It’s a shame to see the country begging foreign donors for essential needs after 60 years of independence, says Evans Mwangi Macharia. “And yet we could afford to send 100 MPs to Ethiopia to witness the African Union Commission chairmanship election where only the Heads of State vote. Shame on you for wasting the little we have!” His email address is evans_macharia@yahoo.com.

Have a frugal day, won’t you!
